Smith Mountain Lake is Virginia's second largest - and most visited - lake. Boating is many visitors' favorite activity, and boat rentals are plentiful.

Several companies on the shoreline offer Smith Mountain Lake boat rentals - pontoon boats, deck boats, ski boats, PWCs (Jet Skis, Seadoos, and WaveRunners), fishing boats, house boats, and more. Many also sell marine gas and rent kayaks, paddle boards, tubes, skis, wake boards, knee boards, and more. Rates shown below are starting points that include a full-day rental during SML's low season. Rates do NOT include gas/oil, and were updated Jan/2018. Call to confirm rates and to check availability before you arrive.

Invasive, non-native zebra mussels are a threat to SML, migrating southeast from the Great Lakes and hitchhiking nationwide on trailered boats from infested lakes. SML so far remains free of these noxious pests. Invasive species are illegal to transport here; visitors should "Clean, Drain, and Dry" all trailered boats before launching in SML. Better yet, rent a mussel-free boat at one of these SML marinas!
