We are thrilled and deeply grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response to the inaugural issue of the SML Insiders’ Guide. Hearing your kind words and appreciation through email, social media and in-person encounters—whether at community events, Chamber functions, restaurants or even the grocery store—has truly warmed our hearts.

The common thread we’ve heard is how much you value the magazine as an expert resource, one that will grace your coffee tables and guest rooms well beyond its three-month season.

Many of you also expressed your appreciation for the online extras, such as interactive maps, extended stories and additional photos and videos, which have enhanced your reading experience and knowledge of the Smith Mountain Lake area.

Creative Director Heather Snyder is flanked by publishers Andie Gibson and Jennifer Church at a party in May at The Copper Kettle to celebrate the launch of the first issue of SML Insiders.

As we dive into this issue for the fall (which we call “festival season”), we’re excited to shine a spotlight on some of the region’s top events, including the Antique and Classic Boat Show, Wine Festival and Charity Home Tour.

Plus, don’t miss our guide to hiking in the SML region, a look at the Bottled in Bedford Craft Beverage Trail and our top reasons why autumn is an absolutely amazing time to visit SML.

Finally, we’re excited to announce we’ve partnered with Mariners Landing for our second SML Fall Getaway Sweepstakes.

Even if you’re a resident, be sure to enter! It’s a great chance to win a staycation, one-day boat rental from Bridgewater Marina, plus numerous gift certificates to area restaurants and shops.
