Big News for Small Patients: Carilion Children’s Pediatric Medicine – Rocky Mount

Families at Smith Mountain Lake now have a welcome new option for children’s healthcare. Carilion Children’s Pediatric Medicine – Rocky Mount has opened its doors, expanding access to both general and specialty pediatric services just a short drive from the lake.

The bright, kid-friendly facility features separate waiting areas for well and sick visits. It also has eight exam rooms, and a design tailored to make young patients feel comfortable and cared for.

In addition to everyday pediatric care, the practice will offer rotating specialty clinics in cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology and pulmonology.

A New Neighbor in Care: Eastlake Primary Care

Another new option for hometown healthcare has arrived at Smith Mountain Lake. Eastlake Primary Care in Moneta offers comprehensive medical services for patients of all ages, from routine checkups and physicals to lab testing, minor procedures and wellness visits.

Founded by Holly Roy, PA-C, the practice provides a welcoming environment focused on long-term relationships and personalized care.

Eastlake is currently accepting walk-ins as it builds its patient base and offers both traditional and direct primary care options. Most major insurance plans are accepted, with reasonable cash-pay rates available.

Expanding Options for Seniors: SML Health & Rehab

Construction is underway on a new 90-bed skilled nursing facility on Scruggs Road near Westlake Corner. Smith Mountain Lake Health and Rehab Center, part of the Saber Healthcare Group network, will span more than 45,000 square feet. It is expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.

The facility will provide both short- and long-term skilled nursing services, including 24-hour care, post-surgical recovery and wound management. Based in Ohio, Saber operates more than 140 nursing homes across six states.

Currently, the primary local option for similar services is Runk & Pratt at Smith Mountain Lake, an established retirement community offering independent and assisted living, memory care and therapy services.

Smith Mountain Lake residents have a new reason to smile—and sleep better—with the expansion of Mountain View Orthodontics and Dental Sleep Center, which recently opened a new location at Westlake Corner. The practice’s original office is in Vinton, giving patients two convenient options for care.

Led by Dr. Bana Hosseinian, the practice offers advanced orthodontic care for children, teens and adults, including braces and Invisalign clear aligners, as well as specialized treatment for sleep apnea through custom-fitted dental appliances. BrightStar Care, which recently extended services from its Lynchburg and Roanoke branches, now offers a full range of personalized, in-home support for lake-area clients—from companion care and personal assistance to skilled nursing and medication management.
